Kim Il Sung ruled North Korea from 1945 until 1994, and today, even in death, he holds the title of “Eternal President”. Provides a rare glimpse into one of the least understood countries in the world, North Korea. Scenes include: Rare footage of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Roselyn’s visit to Pyongyang in 1994 that diffused a serious crisis, narrowly averted war with the U.S. President Carter and Roselyn cruising with KIM IL SUNG on his yacht down the Taedong River in central Pyongyang and viewing great monuments! (Kim Il Sung died just a few weeks after Carter’s visit.) Kim Il Sung greeting a number of foreign visitors...including the American Televangelist Billy Graham!! Fanatical crowds, army units and veterans clapping, screaming and shouting praises to Kim Il Sung almost everywhere he goes. (North) Korean People's Army units firing guns, doing military exercises and Pledging Allegiance to The Great Leader. Kim Il Sung, surrounded by aids, giving his famous “on the spot guidance” to new infrastructure projects around the country. Also includes scenes of a younger-looking Kim Jong-Il doing things with his father!! A significant portion at the end of the documentary is devoted to the funeral of Kim Il Sung with dramatic scenes of extreme grief and weeping by masses of people and the Military. The documentary provides very interesting insight into how North Koreans perceive their world. Fascinating overall!!
