Suzuki : Other
Up for auction, 1972 Suzuki GT750 "Water Buffalo" or "Kettle" for those across the pond. This is Suzuki's first year GT750 with the double sided 4-leading shoe front drum brake. I purchase an entire collection of GT750's from a retiring collector and this was the only 1972 model in the bunch. Looks to be a pretty original example thats ready for some refurbishment. She's showing some age now, but does fire right up with a motor that sounds very good.
DETAILS AND INFO ON BIKE..........
Production dated 12/1971 , so may be a fairly early bike
Vin is GT750-13337 Engine # GT750-13113
Again, she starts right up everytime with no drama. She does like the choke a bit, so a carb cleaning with attention to the pilot jets is in order, which I will do. Again, the motor sounds strong when revved up and makes that wonderful 70's two-stroke sound.
Tank has no dents or dings, Side covers have no cracks or broken mounting tabs.
I am missing one tank emblem. Original owner say's the emblem is somewhere between San Francisco and Laguna Seca Raceway.
Also missing is one of the large upper muffler cones. This is the black cone at the end of the each muffler.
Seat is original and has the correct "GT" stencil. She's in need of a new cover though as it has tape and a seam that has let go. See pics
Tires have no dry rot, and plenty of tread. I have no idea how old they are.
Front and rear brakes all work and function like they should.
There's a dent on the back side of the front fender.
Wiring system appears all stock/original aside from the addition of a fuse lead added under left cover.
Probably due for a fresh battery. Starter operates perfectly.
Please ignore the painted radiator end caps. They'll be swapped out with a respectable chrome pair tomorrow. The handlebar extenders that are in the earlier pics were removed to put the bars back to there stock original position.
The bike is complete and original but again, is showing age. Frame paint is dull and or touched up, some chrome has lost it's luster, and other chrome parts like exhaust, taillight housing, chrome fork ear trim, shifter pedal, are very pitted. However, items like front fender, rear fender, headlight ring, fender stays are in great condition.
Gauge faces are pretty and clear, Chrome back side housing is pitted.
This bike had been sitting for the last 5 years before I recently purchased it. I did not have to clean the carbs to get her going again, but will do a good carb cleaning/rebuild with new carb kits for the new owner. New owner should do fresh fluids and basic maintenance before really hitting the open road on her.
I did ride the bike around the block a few times, and she feels great, shifts fine, etc. The original owner stated that she was always a good bike that gave him little to no trouble. After the carb rebuild, I run her out a bit and add anything news worthy.
Overall, a great opportunity to get into a collectable first year Suzuki GT750 that currently runs, but needs some cosmetics and refurbishment. Lots more fun to be riding the bike your fixing up, than staring at a non-running lump in the garage that drains your enthusiasm.
I will be adding lots more pics and general info. Please feel free to ask questions. I can be reached directly at (925)594-1917 and am always happy to talk to a fellow enthusiast. We do reserve the right to end the auction early as we are accepting offers locally.
We are happy to store the bike until you,a friend or your shipper is coming our way, 2 weeks, two months it doesn't matter. We do however appreciated prompt payment. We only accept bank wire transfers, sorry no paypal for motorcycle purchases.

I put together some stuff for the new owner. Some could be used right away, some of it stash aside for later.

NOS front brake cables
NOS Genuine Suzuki chrome covers for back side of speedo and tach
Three carburator rebuild kits
NOS Genuine Suzuki footpeg rubbers
NOS Genuine Suzuki oil tank window kit

Will do my best putting together some front turn signals and a better tailight housing. I will go over the bike again and see if there are any small part needs I can supply.
The radiator end caps currenty on the bike, are the correct ones. I can see the original Lavender paint underneath. Looks like someone rattle-canned them black.
Thanks for all the emails and calls regarding the bike. She's a little rough around the edges, but is still a good old solid bike. I'm sure the new owner is going to be real happy with her. Thanks again, Michael
