This auction is for a used Steeg & Reuter model "SR 6" polarimeter. Since I know absolutely nothing about this type of equipment I found the following on Google: "A polarimeter is a laboratory instrument used to determine the angle of optical rotation of plane-polarized light passing through a sample of material....A typical polarimeter consists of a light source, a polarizer, a sample holder, and some form of viewer."

This instrument is 13" long, 8 1/2" tall, and 4 3/4" wide. It is marked on the base "Dr Steeg & Reuter, Bad Homburg, Typ. SR 6, Made in Germany." It has some surface wear. All lenses are present but the front one looks like it has a little mould (it is replaceable). Beyond that I do not know how to evaluate the condition properly or to test it. For this reason the polarimeter is being sold "as-is".
