These wonderful old tuners came off an upright bass I wrecked in an auto accident approximately 50 years ago. The neck snapped but the tuners are undamaged. A Hungarian Gypsy was the previous owner, and I believe he brought the bass to Detroit from Europe. Unfortunately, I never learned the full history of the bass. I estimate these tuners are 75 years old, perhaps older. The gears work effortlessly. The tuners have never been cleaned and there is an accumulation of skin oil, perspiration and grit on them. Amazing patina. Museum quality.
