To the winner of this auction goes a UB Workshop Double Bass Bow - French or German with your choice of hair! No Reserve!

Upton Bass Workshop Double Bass Bow, Upright Bass Bow. 100% ebony frog, YOUR CHOICE OF HAIR!! French and German styles.

Double Bass Upton Bass Workshop Bow with YOUR CHOICE of horse hair, Black, Silver, or White!

We know double bass bows, and we also know how to have them made out of Brazilwood and keep the cost down. By focusing on the wood and camber and abandoning a few aesthetic aspects, we have produced an Upton Bass Workshop Bass Bow with an attractive price that plays as well,  if not better than other double bass bows that cost twice as much.

Here is how Upton Bass has created an affordable Brazilwood Double Bass Bow:

The Tip: Most bass bows have a black lining between the stick and the white material. This black material is usually ebony on more expensive bows and compressed paper fiber on less expensive bows. This black lining is purely aesthetic and does not add to the performance or strength of the bow in any way. By abandoning this surface feature we save labor and material costs. On more expensive bass bows the white material of the tip is bone, which is inexpensive but difficult to work with. On extremely expensive bows this white martial is Mastodon (note that ivory is now illegal, so bow makers currently use "mastodon"). The tip material of our Upton Bass Workshop Bow is a composite plastic, similar to material used for high end solid surface kitchen countertops. This material is strong, aesthetically pleasing, easy to work with, and extremely inexpensive.

The Frog: The frog of the Upton Bass Workshop Bow is 100% ebony, which we would not compromise. However, many superficial features can be eliminated in order to make a more affordable Brazilwood bass bow. The Upton Bass Brazilwood bow is made with un-figured Abalone in place of more elaborately marked abalone shell. Abalone is cheaper than mother of pearl, and un-figured Abalone is almost considered "scrap material" to those in trades that use it and it is actually often thrown away. This modification is thrifty but does not in any way affect the Upton Bass Workshop Double Bass Bow's strength or playability. Also, our frogs have no silver or nickel linings. On inexpensive bows these linings often work loose and the amount saved by omitting this feature is substantial.. We kept the slider (the metal lining between the frog and the stick) because it helps the frog to slide nicely, but opted for stainless steel rather than nickel. This prevents corrosion of the bow when it interacts with perspiration during play. The "Parisian Eye" is also absent from the metal ring and is made of abalone. Again, this saves material and labor costs while retaining a traditional look, yet takes nothing away from the bow's performance or strength.

The Hair: This Upton Bass bow is re-haired by our skilled luthiers for each individual order.  With the choice of silver, black or white horse hair, each bow is made specifically for the new owner!  The Upton Bass Workshop Double Bass Bow is a $149.00 bow with the very same hair that would be used for walk-in bow re-hairs at our Upton Bass shop - truly remarkable!  Since we use this same hair, we can guarantee your bow hair from the minute it leaves our workshop, not just upon re-hairing it for you!

By selectively choosing materials and construction methods, we were able to significantly reduce the production cost of our Upton Bass workshop bass bows. This was done with the customer and price point in mind. Whether you are beginner and this will be your first bow or you are a professional who doesn't want to bring your expensive bow to outdoor concerts or lessons, the Upton Bass Workshop Double Bass Bow was made with you in mind. Why allow the sound of your music to suffer with a substandard bow that is ugly and poorly made when you can play a real Brazilwood bow for about the same cost?

At $149, the Upton Bass Workshop Double Bass Bow is simply unbeatable. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the purchase of the Upton Bass Workshop Double Bass Bow, simply let us know within 7 days and we will refund the whole amount of your purchase, INCLUDING SHIPPING.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
