Rare Hammond Model E Organ Serial #8307 With A Rare Leslie / Vibratone Model 30A Speaker Serial #288 Both organ and speaker have been fully serviced and are working
perfect. I have made a special Leslie kit which uses its own cord and
half moon switch so that the Leslie amplifier is still original except
for replacing the capacitors. Originally this Leslie could only be
switched with two switches on the side of the cabinet. I have heard
that this is the first model Leslie made and that the first serial
number was 100. That makes this one one of the first and it still has
the original paper mache horn.
The organ is almost all
original, it has one small trim piece missing on the bottom edge of the
organ and one on the bottom edge of the seat. One of
the pedal preset light sockets have been repaired and one of the volume
indicators are not original. The Leslie has the middle back panel with
the model and serial tag but the upper and lower panels are missing.
What makes this organ unique is that it is
a concert model with 32 note AGO pedals, it is the only Hammond organ
made with dual expression pedals-one for each manual, four toe preset
buttons for the pedals with indicator lights, volume/expression bar
indicators, and the coolest option is you could use the great (lower
manual) drawbars on the pedals. There were less than 3000 of these
organs built.(I have heard a few numbers but not more than 3000) It is
also a dual generator organ with chorus like the model BC and D.
Cosmetically
in beautiful condition, all I can find is what I mentioned
above, a number of mild marks on the housings, the Leslie has two small
pieces missing on the front lattice and a small split has been
repaired. The organ has some mild crazing in some areas. Also the paper back ground for the pedal indicators has been torn in a few areas, but has been repaired with some clear tape. I try my
hardest not to hide anything so please review the
pictures thoroughly.
