If you are reading this listing you must be a great son or daughter and worried about your parent or parents! It is not easy taking care of and worrying about parents that are still relatively well but really not able to completely take care of themselves. Maybe they don't drive too well anymore, forget to take medicine, don't eat properly, the usual things asscociated with advancing age. Maybe they just live someplace where it is dangerous and you are allways worried about them. Taking care of them can prevent you from taking care of your own affairs and enjoying your life. My wife Nancy and I had a Bed and Breakfast in our home in South West Virginia for a time and we loved it, but were only busy on weekends pretty much. That was not meeting our monetary needs and when gas hit almost 4 dollars a gallon we decided to close the B&B as it was not profitable. I will say right off we are not looking to offer 24 hour nursing home type care to someones parent or parents. They would need to be able to climb 12 stairs with a rail. This would be an assisted care type situation. We are not medical people! We are just a caring couple that would like to do something good for people and make a living in the process! We could NOT administer medicines and such, but we could surely see to it that reminders are given to take medicines and see to refilling prescriptions and such. We CAN, assist, transport, cook for and clean for an older person or couple. We even have a spare room for family to stay to visit with the guests staying with us. I can't help but think that there is a family out there that we can help and you would be helping us out by the same token financially. This is not as crazy as it sounds. We would be doing this for one family only so it would be on a first come first serve basis. Nancy and I are caring people and have been taking people into our home since we have been here. We have taken in a young lady with severe Cerebral palsy that was being abused by her family, an artist that was displaced during Katrina for almost two years, and various other folks for many varying reasons! My wife Nancy was injured by a drunk driver many years ago and had a large settlement which has been reduced by the economic and stock market collapse. Madoff and AIG type problems have severely diminished our nest eggs and we want to continue to do good with our home and make a living while working out of our home. We thought long and hard of what we could do and this is what we decided we wanted to try and do to benefit someone. It is a unique niche service but one that is a part of life that everyone has to deal with at one time or another. Assisting your parents and trying to take care of your own matters and needs is a daunting task! We can help take your mind and worry off of mom and dad. You can have them come and stay with us! We will take care of them just like family. We have a beautiful home in a wonderful small town. Mom and Dad could both come and stay together here with no worries to you. You would have personal contact with us one on one to assist with matters that may come up like maybe plane reservations, trips to airports etc. We will take them to worship, shopping, to theaters, whatever they may need within our capacity we would do that for them, Picnics in the back yard, soaking in the Jacuzzi etc,. etc. We are just a loving couple that has been blessed with the gift of hospitality and we want to use our gifts to make a living and help others. This is a very personal thing and will be done in a very personal manner. No big corporation and shifts of indifferent employees. This would be your folks living as guests in our home. They would have a HUGE furnished bedroom suite with a private bath, and a huge furnished Livingroom with a fireplace, cable TV in both areas, and really good homecooked meals everyday. It would be like living in a resort for them everyday where they will be treated as very special guests ( because they will be. ). If you have looked into assisted living places you know they are pretty institutional in nature and VERY expensive! Most are upwards of 6,000.00 a month, we are looking for around half that a month or less. RATE WOULD BE BASED ON DEGREE OF CARE NEEDED! We are looking for year to year at a time booking and so long as all parties agree, untill such time as a need might arise for a higher level of care we would renew the contract / agreement every year.That would include food, utilities, day to day needs fulfilled like laundry, trips shopping etc. Long trips to airports and such may require extra payments at cost plus reasonable per hour charges for transportation. Of course everyones needs are different and we would be flexible on what we would charge depending on the level of need or care required. Maybe one parent is in need of a little more care and one helps the other, they could stay here and have the extra help from us to more thoroughly enjoy their days and time together.....This is a cozy quiet peaceful home, and we are God faring people, I guarantee your parent / parents will be very happy and well cared for here. I know that this would be a BIG move and decision for loving children to place mom and dad in the loving care of people that you don't know so I would invite you to contact us and come down to meet us. We want to meet you too!! This will be a personal relationship where you will become a part of our family and we will become a part of yours...what could be better than that? Mom and Dad would have two families looking after them! I know you are out there wondering what to do for mom and dad. Get in touch. Like I said this will only be done for one family so the first ones that take advantage of our offer will be the only ones that get to take advantage of this service.
