Item specifics
Condition: UsedProduct Type: Violin
This auction is for a 1920's German violin, made in the Stradivarius style. The fiddle was personally signed by Natalie MacMaster at a 1996 show in Maxville, Ontario. Comes with brand-new D'Addario Pro-Arte perlon-core strings and a basic case. No bow is included. This precious fiddle has been my friend for over fifteen years and it's a great instrument for Irish, Cape Breton, and old-time fiddling. As an instrument made in the 1920's, there are flaws: (1) There are four small (1/4-inch, each) indents in the fiddle top, about 2 inches south of the treble F-hole, and two more smaller ones on the opposite side. These were present when I purchased the fiddle and in no way affect the sound. (2) The button has been expertly repaired (by Peter Dawson, master fiddle maker in Ottawa, Ontario) (3) Overall, the varnish is strong but what you'd expect on a 90-year old instrument which has a had a lot of real playing. This is a great fiddle which has seen many, many dances, kitchen parties, and Irish sessions. It has a long life ahead!
