Primero se llamó Unión y siempre tuvo el uniforme que hasta hoy se conoce. Los colores provienen de una insoslayable influencia francesa, muy común durante el Porfiriato. Dos años después de su fundación en 1908, el equipo tomó el nombre de su ciudad sede e inició un camino de esfuerzos deportivos que lo han llevado a ser el club de fútbol más popular entre todos los mexicanos. La primera Copa que obtuvo el Guadalajara fue producto de un enfrentamiento con el popular Atlético Occidental en 1913. El Guadalajara ingresó a la Liga Mayor, lo cual dio inicio a una organización profesional nacional en 1943. En el profesionalismo se inició la rivalidad contra los capitalinos especialmente con América, surgiendo así el mote de "Chivas". De 1956 a 1970 bajo la dirección de tres diferentes entrenadores, los Chivas lograron 8 campeonatos, 2 sub campeonatos y 2 terceros lugares.

Full Description :	Team's History: The Guadalajara was originated as a representation of the Mexican cultural "mestizaje". At the beginning it was called Union and since then wears the same uniform it wears today. The colors dated back to the Porfiriato era when a very strong French influence prevailed. Two years after it was founded in 1908, the team was named after its city and began a soccer sport record that took it to become the most popular football team among Mexicans. The first Victory Cup achieved by the Guadalajara was a result of the game with the popular Atletico Occidental in 1913. The Guadalajara was a part of the Mayor League, and as a result a national professional organization was born in 1943. In the professional arena began the rivalry against capitalinos, especially with the America, what created the nick name of "Chivas".
