F.A.Q. *Scallop Depth* A scallop measuring 2 - 4 /32" going from the top of the fret to the bottom of the scallop is more than enough to please any scalloped neck player. Once you have removed enough wood from the fretboard, you elimate the friction and drag that is caused when your fingers rub the fretboard as you are freting. Having scallops actually causes you to exert your hands less, as less pressure is required of you to fret notes, increasing your speed and longevity as well. Your hands can relax and allow you to focus on the music you are playing, Common scalloping depth is slightly deeper on the treble side of the neck (high E side), this is where scalloping is needed the most as your fingertips tend to brush the fretboard the most when playing the thinest strings. The bass side of the scallop is generally determined by the location of your side dots, I scallop just close enough to them to not go through or show from the top. your fingers will notice the scallops less on the bass side (low E side), because your finger tips depending on the gauge of strings you use, generally contact the fretboard less on this side of the neck. *what types of necks do I scallop* This auction and service is for bolt-on removable necks, not set necks. I prefer to scallop guitar necks with dot inlays only, I will scallop necks with shark tooth, diamond, or block inlays, but I cannot guarantee the condition of these inlays or if they will survive, it ultimately depends on the depth and material of the inlay. I do fully guarantee the condition of any dot inlay, if the scallop removes the inlay or damages/ goes all the way through, I will replace it at no extra charge, while performing this service.. I can upgrade your dots to stock materials, such as mother of pearl, abalone, black, or white, for an additional charge of 25.00usd. *Finishing and Refinishing* I refinish/ reseal the fretboard after scalloping has been performed. Maple fretboards receive a smooth Satin finish and buffing with multiple coats and wet sanding. Rosewood and ebony receive a tung oil sealing, multiple coats. If your neck is very aged, and you would like a new finish on the entire neck, I can do this for an aditional 20.00usd charge. (added return time applies) Please ask if you have any special regards as to finish. *Return Time* Your neck and the work I perform upon it are of the greatest importance to me, and I want you to be very satisfied and pleased with the scallop, finish and service. The scalloping methods I use are mostly performed by hand and are very time consuming, and I am an absolute perfectionist at what I do, through this I have earned a great many return and repeat customers who depend upon my services. Return times vary depending on the length and detail of services requested and performed, two weeks being the lowest estimated time five weeks being the longest. Adding services such as, added logos, inlay replacement, refinishing , multiple necks, can add to return time.
