FRIENDS FOR CAPTAIN BOB /FIGHTING ALS MOVEMENT

These Chippy Ponchos are HANDMADE with loving care by Bob's 90 year old mother named Chippy.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO, WHILE YOU STILL COULD?
Consider for a moment the simple everyday tasks that we take for granted, that people with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) struggle with constantly. ALS is a fatal neuromuscular disease, which paralyzes the body’s voluntary muscles. Since ALS does not normally impact the senses, the mind can remain unaffected and perfectly alert. Over time, people with ALS lose the ability to eat, drink, speak, walk and breathe; eventually they cannot hug or speak to those they love.

Friends for Captain Bob have united to support our beloved local resident Bob Monette, who was diagnosed 3 years ago with ALS.  He has lost all use of his legs and currently relies on a motorized power chair for any mobility. Because it is a relatively rare disease compared to cancer, diabetes, etc.; it does not receive much federal funding for research or patient assistance. Almost all of the money is privately raised through generous donations from people like you.

Our Red Creek Park Softball Fundraiser was not only an amazing success but also an inspirational reminder of the Hope that a community can bring to one family. This outpouring encouraged us to render our next event in November as a “friendraiser”. We are striving to continue that support for Captain Bob, to help ease his daily challenges and ultimately provide him with a handicap adapted van.
