in support of The Kidney Foundation of Canada
8" X 10", acrylic on canvas board
This is a rare opportunity for you to own an ORIGINAL, one-of-a-kind painting by Calgary Stampeders' wide receiver, Arjei Franklin. All proceeds from the sale of this painting will go to The Kidney Foundation of Canada so that the Foundation can continue to fund much needed kidney research and improve the lives of people living with kidney disease.
Franklin played high school football at Toronto's Agincourt Collegiate Institute. He studied human kinetics at the University of Windsor. Franklin was first-team all-CIS in his final two seasons at Windsor. He is the all-time leading receiver in Lancers history with 178 catches for 2,913 yards and he finished his university career with 23 touchdowns. In his third CFL season, Franklin started all 18 games for the Blue Bombers and made a career-high 49 receptions for 566 yards. He scored the first touchdown of his CFL career on Sept. 26 on a 73-yard catch-and-run play against the Edmonton Eskimos. His season featured three six-catch games, the first in the season-opener on June 27 against Toronto and the others against Calgary on July 24 and against Hamilton on Aug. 14. Franklin made two receptions in the East Semi-Final against Edmonton.
Calgary acquired Franklin in a trade with Winnipeg on Sept. 20, 2009 (after he painted this Blue Bomber painting). The Blue Bombers selected him in the third round (19th overall) of the 2006 Canadian draft.
