1950's GIBSON 5 STRING BANJO w PRE WAR APPOINTMENTS

Gibson Model RB-100 . Serial number 91092 . 

Features include :

**One piece flange, similar to Pre-War  Mastertone Banjos

**Single bound maple resonator finished in a two tone sunburst 

**Maple multi-ply 5/8” thick rim

**Brazilian rosewood fingerboard on mahogany neck with “Gibson” logo and crown inlay in    pearl

**Old style brass hoop tonering

**Original pancake style geared tuners

This Gibson banjo is in great condition and has only some light finish checking on the resonator and a few insignificant nicks here and there. The nickel hardware is in great shape and still maintains most of its shine without much corrosion( except for some rust on a few hooks). Matching serial numbers on the back of headstock and resonator. There are two professionally plugged tuner holes as well as the front/ back of headstock has been over sprayed. It appears that at one point, this banjo had a set of older style Scruggs tuners with the extra set of tuners . There is a small hole drilled in the flange. Also it has a non-original older Elton armrest. All other parts are original. This banjo has been professionally set up with a light fret dressing and fret polishing. Needless to say this banjo sounds and plays amazing!! These early RB-100 models  have  many of the same nickel hardware and  parts as used on those great old Pre-War Mastertone models. Put a flathead tone ring on this one and you are practically there at a fraction of the cost!! Comes with hard case.
